ST. CLOUD – September 14, 2015 – Northwestern Mutual raised $20,000 at its second annual golf tournament to support programs at Make-A-Wish Minnesota and American Cancer Society. The tournament was held on Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Wapicada Golf Course.

The golf tournament attracted more than 100 St. Cloud community members, who are committed to improving the lives of local, central Minnesotan children facing life-threatening medical conditions. Of the $20,000 raised, $13,000 will be donated to Make-A-Wish Minnesota and $7,000 will be donated to the American Cancer Society to be used for pediatric cancer research.

“We are proud of the tournament’s success in its second year, and look forward to growing its impact in the years to come,” said Josh Longnecker, Managing Director of Northwestern Mutual. “We are grateful for the continued support of our sponsors and golf tournament participants, and are glad to support such a worthy cause.”

The golf tournament marks a successful milestone in raising awareness and funds in support of families fighting childhood cancer in the local community. To date, the St. Cloud office has raised $39,000 to help eradicate this disease.

Nationally, cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children younger than 15 in the U.S., and Northwestern Mutual is committed to accelerating the search for cures to childhood cancers and to providing support to families battling the disease.
